Men’s Abbey of Caen, Calvados

Fly over this witness of the Norman architecture: the Men’s Abbey of Caen.

Founded in the 11th century by Guillaume the Conqueror (which there is), the Abbey to the men housed then revolutionary administrations before becoming a high school under the first empire, and then to host the municipality of Caen today.

This monument has been largely funded by the English riches seized Guillaume the Conqueror!
